Charles "Chas." H. Peck signed postal card addressed to J.J. Davis, M.D. of Racine, Wisconsin who sent fungi species Peck has previously identified as genus Cereospora - Peck reassigns genus of submitted species as Cylindroporium and re-identifies the species as Cylindroporium leptospermum.
Charles Horton Peck, an American Mycologist, was born March 30, 1833 in Sand Lake, New York, served as the New York State Botanist from 1867 to 1915, a period in which he described over 2700 species of North American fungi.
Historically important correspondence between two important early mycologists. Would make an interesting addition to Mushroom / Fungi thematic collection or exhibit.
